Spiral Sculpture

Private Client - Ashland, OR

MudWorks Natural Building designed and sculpted this piece along a hallway in a large temple/apothecary space. This artistic accent was incorporated into the larger project of installing clay and lime plasters to this building, which was led by James Henderson and Kyle Holzhueter.

Project Details & Specs

The sculpture was freehanded onto the wall using clay slip, painted onto the existing clay/lime brown coat plaster. Once the general design was finalized, the relief was shaped using a thick and sticky mix of solely clay and straw.

Once the shaping was completed, the entire wall (including the relief) was finished with a top coat of Gold Hill Clay Plaster.
